Raising money thru a fishing tournament in my sons memory to donate to our local recovery homes and bringing awareness into our community and speaking with the high school students about my sons death and what drugs can do to you. We need to see change in our county. We need to help one another. Drugs doesn’t discriminate!

Anthony Williams

  • Anthony is the local YL leader for the ECHS chapter. He has been pivotal in mentoring my son and helping him grow into the man I know he can be. Anthony will stop by on weekends to take the boys to shoot hoops and is always available to talk to them and help them. He dedicates his time to the community and is an incredible man.

She’s personable and no matter how busy she is, she makes time for anyone who graces her presence. She’s a real hero and model for all to aspire to be like.

  • He is kind, caring and still volunteers his time investing in the next generation! At church or on the beach teaching them how to surf. He is an amazing person!

Brandy Bell

  • She is the director of the small business center at the community college, she does an amazing job trying to help everyone who walks into the door. She goes above and beyond to help people and wants everyone to succeed.

Brenda Felton

  • Lead teacher for 3s at Childcare Network and Choir leader at her church. She teaches toddlers with patience, love and nurture that is unmatched. She is bright and talented and brings out the talents in each child she teaches.

Brittany Kelley

  • she is fighting cancer going on 2 years now. She has done so much for the community, since her diagnosis, and has helped so many in need just like she is.

  • She has been battling breast cancer for almost 2 years. She has done so with grace and dignity. She has personally raised close to $100,000 for cancer research and cancer support. Her bravery is unmatched.

  •  for her incredible strength and positivity while fighting breast cancer.

  • she has been so open about her battle with triple negative breast cancer. She won the battle, it returned and now she is clinging to trials. She is an amazing Minnie 3 young boys. Wife to Grant who IS the performance zone. She is a faithful mother, friend and advocate. She is the definition of a local role model, community activist (let’s make pink just a color run), and fundraiser for breast cancer research. Double check but I believe she’s raised 54,000 since she started her efforts.

Brittany Wheatly

  • She is the best all around person for our community. From real estate to the school system she puts her heart in it all!

Brooke DePinto

  • Principal at Beaufort Middle School Ms. DePinto is an amazing principal and all of the students (and parents) at BMS are lucky to have her! She knows every. single. kid. in the school and treats them with kindness and respect. She attends every academic and sporting event to show support and enthusiasm for her kids! She is an asset to the Carteret County school system and our community!

Caleb Smith

Carrie Huber

  • for her unending and ever-working mission to save as many dogs from euthanasia and terrible conditions as she can. She has built a large network of fosters for the dogs she saves and her organization Misplaced Mutts has successfully found good homes for many hundreds of dogs.

  • a single mom, full-time teacher and runs the non-profit Misplaced Mutts rescue organization. She is simply amazing!

Carson Ruffin

Casey Wagner

  • he is constantly advocating for this community. He is a morehead city native born and raised and has dedicated his life to this community and working hard. He truly cares about the future of Morehead city. From volunteering his time to the big rock and where the donations get dispersed in the community, to just being a friendly neighbor and helping hand to anyone, he is what makes Morehead such a special small town. He isn’t so flashy and would never go searching for recognition which is what I think makes him a great fit for this nomination.

David Jones

  • Over the years he has been an amazing role model for the community. During his time preaching at Franklin Memorial in MHC, or at North River Methodist, or even Straights Methodist, he was able to bring people from all ages and backgrounds to enjoy fellowship and community with one another. He is active in the Crystal Coast RC Club and helps teach the next generation the wonders of aviation. Lastly, he is passionate about our coastal boating community, and with his business (Taylor Boat Works) he helps locals and visitor alike in being proud to be a boater on the Crystal Coast.

Dawn Brock

  •  she’s had challenges and unfortunate events of her own and continues to get back to the community to those in need. She is a workhorse and a cheerleader. She has the biggest heart and just keeps giving.

Dena White

  • Dena is the first female lead pastor at Ann Street Methodist church. She serves the community with grace. She has helped our church bounce back from a split and help us all align our lives with the teachings of Jesus. Dena has started initiatives with the Hospice House, local nursing homes, and our local educators. She lead an east west initiative and hosted teachers impacted by Helene in the west with mentors here….feeding them and also helping fund classroom needs. She is the best leader!

Dexter Williams

  • Dexter is a positive influence on the youth in the community and has left a lasting impact on me for the last 10 years since I have met him. He could not be a better person to have as an influential figure in my life and all those he touches!

Dexter ans Shannon have raised a family with strong values and commitment to giving back to this area. Dexter is a role model to thousands of kids in this community over the years.

Elizabeth Bielak

  • founder of Hand 2 Hand Down East. Most giving person! Currently feeding over a hundred people every Monday.

  • Elizabeth started Hand 2 Hand because she noticed a need Down East. Her and a wonderful group of volunteers feed the community every Monday for free. They also deliver food to the elderly and shut ins for the week. They check in on them. They help upkeep their property with free cleans and lawn care. Where there is a need they step in. When there is a tragedy she will deliver goods, such as clothing, toys, food, and such to those in need. She has found homes for people when fires or eviction has occurred. She offers jobs and training to those who might need it. Often times going without herself to meet the needs of someone. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this vote.

Emily Sewell

  • Cubmaster for Cubs Scouts Pack 130 in Morehead City and local psychotherapist. She spends her days in complete service of our community - awesome therapist and then spends her free time giving back to Cub Scouts.

Erin Smith

  • Erin goes above and beyond to care for those in need in our community. Just to name a few expamples, she was very involved in hurricane relieve efforts during florence and beyond to find people homes and furnish them. She has been greatly invovled in the Carteret Public School foundation over the past several years raising funds for student scholarships, and she recently was at the forefront of helping a local family navigate through a tragic loss. When there is a need, she is always willing to step in and help to fulfill it. There are many other ways that she has given of herself for the betterment of our community and I am proud to nominate her as a local role model.

  • he’s a bail bondsman but more than that. He cares about people at their lowest point, especially those struggling with addiction.

Isaiah Holmes

  • he is a wonderful and inspiring young man. The oldest of seven children and the only boy, he has incredible patience and exhibits wonderful kindness while teaching the youth of our community. As an instructor at Grandmaster Dong's Martial Arts, he encourages both children and adults to be more confident. His cheerful nature and great sense of humor brightens the days of every student that walks in the door.

  • He is loved by many in the because he serves as a beacon of hope and light in our community when there is so much uncertainty in the economy. He leads with confidence but most of all the are guided by faith in Jesus. His business practices are focused around trust, integrity and valued relationships shared with his clients. This same dedication spills over into many faucets throughout Carteret County as he serves in multiple boards, is a volunteer coach in multiple sports teams, leader in his church and deeply involved member of our community. I could go but not sure how much space I have!

  • we do several date nights a year here and silently hope we get to sit with her at the bar. She is always such a pleasure to see and makes all guests feel like the most important people in the room. Not to mention she makes the best drinks!

  •  He has been serving this community well over 30 years. The only vacuum and sewing center around. He is the most kind hearted person willing to help anyone around. He also served our community as a police office in Atlantic Beach for 26 years. He is the greatest man you will ever meet. ♥

Joseph St James 

  • This man goes above and beyond to help the less fortunate in our community. He helps the homeless without judgment. He provides events for the elderly and for youth. I don’t thinks people realize how much he does because he doesn’t glorify what he does.

  • JT is the pastor of Local Point Church in Newport. I have never met a man/pastor that is as passionate as he when it comes to sharing the Love of Christ with people. He is able to meet people right where they are and love them and provide Godly counsel and love to the broken spaces of people’s lives.

  • the pastor at Local Point Church. He is a wonderful role model, always seeking to be a representation of Jesus not matter where he goes. He is king, serving, selfless, and a listening ear any time you need. Just an overall amazing human being.

  • He really teaches this community how to love big!JT Riley is the epitome of a local role model in Carteret County! He organizes and leads great endeavors with many local organizations and assists a multitude in our community.  JT serves meals at Hope Mission of Coastal Carolina on a regular basis. He also partners with Hope is Alive to change the lives of many in our community struggling with substance abuse. He serves as the Vice Chair for our Carteret County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, helping improve the Quality of Life for our local Service Members and their families through multiple avenues.  JT also works with our active duty Service Members to provide deployment care ministry, as well support to strengthen and re-engage families and marriages. JT also serves as a steward for our single and unaccompanied active duty Service Members. He supports our local Fellowship Christian Athletes.  JT serves as the Senior Pastor at Local Point Church in Newport, assisting so many of our local community members. Through his daily actions and leadership, Local Point Church is able to support so many additional programs in Carteret County and gives a large portion of it’s budget back into local community programs that need assistance. In addition to all of this, JT is a loving husband and father of 5. He enjoys spending time on the Crystal Coast with his family (especially fishing)! He loves attending and supporting his kids’ events, as well as hosting the banquet at WCHS for the Girls Basketball JV Team and get-togethers for the Wrestling Team. JT and his family welcome all kids into their home, providing a space to enjoy fellowship, fun, and support. There are a lot of amazing things that many great people in our community do. However, I am nominating JT because I am in constant AWE of how he always manages to do these things with a smile on his face, a full heart, and GREAT POSITIVE attitude. He also has the best time management skills, listening skills, and communication skills that I’ve ever seen! He keeps an open-mind and is always willing to jump in and help with whatever is needed in our community.  I aspire to all of this and his great examples help me grow as a person and a small business owner. I am very grateful that we have JT (and people like JT) in our Carteret Community!!

  •  she teaches dance every day in a nonprofit studio to ensure every kid who wants to dance has the chance!

  • She is teaching so many kids how to dance in a safe environment with a strong focus on God and community. We love her!

  •  I'm nominating her because she has overcome many things in her life and still holds a place for children to come and be a part of something wonderful.

  • ​ She overcame addiction to become a beloved dance teacher, and offers dance at affordable costs because she believes every child should get to be their own Miracle in Motion.

  • She strives to do the best she can for all the kids that dance for her. Teaching them loyalty, trust, self confidence, self respect, respect for others, and so much more. Encouraging them to take better roads in life and be the best they can be.

  • she is so patient with her dancers and she would never turn down a family if they couldn't pay. She is the first person to tell you she's a recovering addict and I think she's a role model because she's been to hell and back and tries to pay it forward in our community daily.

Always enthusiastic and wants to she the continuation of musical arts and culture in Carteret county. Her passion and commitment to the stage and community are perfectly aligned. Love her heart.

  • She continuously inspires our kids to be themselves and gives them an outlet to do so. She is a mentor to so many young people and she loves them like they are her own. The arts are such an important part of our community and she pushes so hard to keep them alive in our county, specifically for the kids. She also tries to make sure that any and all children who want to be involved, can be! Between dance classes, plays/productions, and theatre summer camps; there are no shortage of opportunities that she doesn't help to put out there for our youth!

  • Katie continues to make a positive impact on the children and adults she encounters. She is able to encourage them to go for their dreams, and she will do what it takes to make kids get there and make them feel encouraged during the process! We need more Katie Dixons in this world! We are lucky to have her in our community!

For many, Kelsey was known as a hospitality server in the community for a long time. But when she came to work for The Cottage, she transformed into a businesswoman, blooming into the potential we always knew she had. She played an instrumental role in creating the culture and core values we established at The Cottage. She stood by our side every step of the way, building the business from the ground up, treating every decision as if it were her own business. Kelsey’s heart is rooted in a greater purpose.
